John James Chekansky

13 avril 195124 avril 2021

With great sadness, his family announces that John passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 70.

He will be forever loved and missed by his beloved wife of 46 years, Wilma. He was the loving father of Gail and her husband Andre, Mark and his wife Dana, and Lyndsay. Proud grandfather of Rhys and McKenna.

John will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings Angela Steele of Hamilton, Ontario and Frank Chekansky, Moira Gardiner, and Steven Chekansky of Lanark, Scotland and many extended family and friends, especially his two dogs Ella and Winnie and ‘grand-dog’ Lola.

He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Margaret Chekansky of Lanark, Scotland.

John was born in Lanark, Scotland and immigrated Canada in 1979 with his family. He had a very successful career in the automotive industry all over North America.

John enjoyed puttering around in the yard, planting both flowers and vegetables. Every spring he waited for his tulips to come out and then later planting tomatoes. No matter what he did, the most important thing in his life was his family.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be any services at this time.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Humane Society would be appreciated by his family.

My heart goes out to your whole family. Losing a loved one is so very hard. Keep the memories you have with him close to your heart. Each day will get a little easier although right now I'm sure you can't imagine that. Know that he is at piece now.

John was an amazing person. Always cracked jokes and was nice to everybody. He always wore blue to work along with a blue lowe's hat, just the cutest!!
For whatever reason I always told him he looked like the cartoon character popeye.

You will be missed Popeye!!
