I never met Joseph but spoke to him many times over the past 30 years.  He had been a friend of my father in Cairo over a long period.  I had lost touch with him recently and trying to track him down, I came across this obituary.  I am sad at his loss and wish him eternal peace.  I will miss our chats and commiserating.

Sometimes I sense his presence. Other times I want to phone him, then remember he has graduated unto God's Kingdom. We will meet again, as will we all, and carry on anew.

Miro I still can`t believe that we lost you. A mass will be selebrated in his memory on the 28 th of April at 1 PM in Montreal, on behalf of tante Juliette Assal and familly Makarry

Several years ago I got a call from Mr. Saheb.  I was totally flabergasted and thought it was a joke at first.  Well over thirty five years had passed since I last saw him.  I am very grateful to mike ballard for giving him my contat information as it gave me the rare opportunity to tell him he was the best teacher I ever had and that I still remembered what the hell endoplasmic recticulum was.  HE lauged hard at that one.  Wherever you are, i hope you and Beethovoven are jamming.

Best teacher I ever had! I will never forget how exciting and memorable he made biology. KCSS was blessed to have found such a treasure of a teacher. I wish I had had the opportunity to have told him what an impact he made in my life.

Very sad to hear the bad news.We lost our lovely cousin Miro I can still hear his voice calling me hye Claudie! you will always be in our heart. Will never forget you especially when I was sick. and I remember when you visited us at my mother's house in Montreal we were chating and laughing the whole night together. You will be always in our prayers, will miss you a lot.

It was a wonderful opportunity to have been taught by Joseph. His zest for life, his joyful approach to make a learning point we'd remember made him and his  classes very  memorable. HIs playfullness when teaching and how he pronounced words like Endoplasmic reticulum is still being talked about with joy.

His depth and width of knowledge and passion for music was incredible. He offered a unique persepective that I still value.

Wishing his family and friends peace and healing in the the time ahead as you mourn his passing and celebrate all that he bought to our lives. Thank you Jospeh.

Joseph / Samir was a constant in my and my family's life since the day I was born. 

His eloquence and wit were only surpassed by his intelligence / love of life. His ability to view life's challenges through the prism of logical thinking - a trait that served him very well in life -  also assured his role as a reliable confidant to others around him. 

I will miss his honestly and conversation above all else, though I am hopeful he is now in a better place - surrounded by the best music and food in the universe.

I end with paying him perhaps the ultimate compliment one can offer: Samir made the world a smarter place - to a man who prized intelligence above all else, no greater a memory of a person is possible.

We just heard the bad news from my cousin Roger in Egypt.  What a great lost!!! I still remember that day when I went to see my cousin Miro in Toronto with my wife and kids for the first time.  He was so happy to see us all, so generous and loving, a wonderful person.  We will love you and miss you always.  Now we have a special guardian angel to watch over us.

I send my condolences to the family of Mr. Saheb. I attended KCSS from 1970-1974. He had a gift for teaching and made learning fun. He introduced me to my love of the sciences.  I remember him as a truly wonderful person and my favourite teacher, ever, throughout my school years!

It is with great sadness that our family mourns the loss of Joseph. However we take comfort in knowing that Joseph lived his life to the fullest. 

Anyone who knew Joseph could not help but admire the passion he had for life, music, poetry and the arts. 

I will always fondly remember all our talks of classic movies from the golden age of Hollywood, Joseph's lively reviews of today's 'blockbuster' movies, and listening to him recite lines from his poems. 

Joseph will be missed for his sense of humour, big heart, and larger than life personality. 

We will miss him dearly.

To my cousin Joseph,

I am deeply saddened by your loss.   You will be greatly missed. But I take some comfort in all the good times, laughs and memories that we shared.  Our family will not be same without you.

Mr. Saheb took a lot of heat from us kids; regardless, we always knew he cared about each and every one of us. He knew how to engage kids and how to make learning fun, not feel like work. As a parent, I now appreciate what a gift it is to be able to connect with kids, especially teenagers. Mr. Sahab's classes are amongst my happiest memories at NBS. Rest in peace, Mr. S.

Mr. Saheb was one of those teachers who I will always remember. The kind who cared, listened and whose wonder and passion for learning was contagious. I'm grateful for having had the chance to be taught by him and will always remember him fondly...
