Mary dedicated her life to helping others. She influenced the lives of many children through her decades of dedicated service as a Sunday School teacher in the Salvation Army. Even in her years of retirement, she never ceased working with the Salvation Army Ladies Home League, visiting shut ins, the elderly and sick in hospital. She had a wonderful singing voice and sang in the Songsters in the Salvation Army and at weddings. She also worked for many years in the physiotherapy department at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She was always ready with a helping smile and a warm hug to lift your spirits. Her sunny disposition and giving heart will be remembered by all who knew her.
She will be especially missed by her family, her daughters Rhonda French Peña and Lisa Savoie (nee French), their husbands Rafael Peña and Robert Savoie; her five grandchildren whom she loved dearly and was immensely proud of: Emily Peña, Olivia Peña, Matthew Savoie, Brandon Savoie and Sheldon Savoie.
Mary was also dearly loved and will be missed by her cousin Helen Howie and her husband George of her native Scotland and their children Glenys and David.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Gary French and her parents Bob and Mary French.
Mary will be resting at Coutts Funeral Home in Cambridge. Visitation will not take place due to COVID, as the family does not want to put anyone at risk. A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 27th at 11 a.m. All are welcome to join the live broadcast of the service which can be found on the Coutts Funeral Home webpage.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society and the Canadian Cancer Society.
