I went to elementary school with Matt, and have a fond memory of him asking and taking me to our grade 8 graduation. He was a gentleman and brought a corsage! I'm very sorry to hear of his passing, my thoughts are with his loved ones.

I did not know Matt personally, however, I have worked with Amy for the last few years.  I admire her courage to support Matt in his journey, and her unfailing good cheer.

My thoughts and prayers are with Amy and all the family at this time, and my condolences.

Although I never had the privilege of meeting Mathew, I believe he was a good man and will be greatly missed by friends and family. My prayers and condolences go out to Tony, Brenda and family.

I new Mathew growing up in high school. Separate schools but same group of friends. Always smiling, big hearted. Many parties at my house and lots of memories. You will be missed greatly. Thinking of the family at this time. 

I've known Mat since he joined Sigma Chi a number of years ago.  Mat was...

A man of good character, 
A student of fair ability, 
With ambitious purposes, 
A congenial disposition, 
Possessed of good morals, 
Having a high sense of honour 
And a deep sense of personal responsibility.

Mat will be missed by the many brothers he knew him from chapter events...especially our annual Hockey Tournament.

The brothers of Sigma Chi have lost one of the good ones as our Chapter Eternal has sadly gained one more Brother.

Mathew was a student in my class at Georgian College.  He always came to class with a smile and wanting to learn, and wasn't afraid to question the teaching.   His questions challenged me at times but his smile and enthusiasm made me seek his answers so I too was learning.  He was a positive inspiration to the other students who saw his hard work paying off which challenged them to work harder to keep up.   I will miss his periodic emails letting me know what he was up to.  

My thoughts and prayers are with his wife,  family and friends.     RIP Mathew.  

Mat was truly one of a kind. His positivity while battling this horrible disease was unbelievably inspiring, but not surprising because that was who Mat was. Always positive, always looking on the bright side and always battling. I admire him so much for the way he treated people and how big of a heart he had. He was always there for you if you needed him. A quick example (of many) is when I played hockey with him and my brothers a few years ago. After the game, I had a flat tire but didn't even know. As I drove away and felt the tire wobbling, out of nowhere comes Mat. I see where the nickname "Batman" comes from. He flagged me down and proceeded to take the bull by the horns and put my spare tire on for me because he knew (and made fun of me while changing the tire) that me or my brothers wouldn't know what to do. He told me that he noticed it looked flat while walking to his car and waited around to see if I needed help. Typical Mat - he didn't even hesitate to help or lend a hand and even had fun while doing it. 
I will miss a lot of things about Mat. Most of all cheering on the Habs with him because he knew all of the inside scoop and was the best person to watch a game (and poke fun at his brothers and dad) with.  
We will all miss him for many reasons but most of all because he was a great person and friend. He will not be forgotten.

I have known Mat since high school. I was  also lucky enough to see his infectious smile when we both ended up in Cody Hall at the University of Windsor. He was one of the kindest people I have ever known and he had the biggest heart. He always greeted me with a hug and a smile. I'm sad to hear of his passing. People like Mat deserve to live a long and happy life. This seems unfair. I'm sad because I lost a friend but I'm also heartbroken for his wife, his mom, dad, family and closest friends. Sending my deepest condolences. 

I'm still in shock to find out that Matt is gone.  He was such a larger than life guy who gave it all at the gym that we worked out at.  I've known Matt for 3 years and he was such an enthusiastic member of TFW, always smiling, giving high fives and encouraging everyone around.  He will be missed.
Hugs to Amy on your loss, I don't know what else to say, he was just taken way to soon.
