

After a short period at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and only 2 days after his 94th Birthday, Reginald Madge has gone Home to be with his Heavenly Father. Left behind with so many wonderful memories is his wife, Doreen Madge in their 69th year of marriage. Sister Helen (Mic) Locke & Family of Christchurch, England. Two sons Geoff (Joanne) and Nigel (Beth), Grandsons Charlie (Jenn) Madge, Coleton and Sheldon Madge. Granddaughter Ellen (Jordan) deSouza. Three Great Grandchildren; twins, Ben & Lily Madge and Maxwell deSouza. Predeceased by his parents Reginald & Ivy Madge, Sister Jessie Reynolds and Brother Leonard Madge.
In 1939 at the age of 17 he entered the British Army. Even though WWII was over in 1945, Reg served until 1946. He was in the Royal Artillery and very proud of his medals. He was a gunner, cook and instructor .He saw many Countries throughout this time; Iraq, Iran, Italy and Rock Of Gibraltar. He witnessed a lot of things that no one would want to and that he would never forget.
He married the love of his life Doreen Tuft on June 21, 1947 in Birmingham England. Had their two sons Geoffrey & Nigel and came to Canada in July 1966, settling in Cambridge. Working long hours delivering bread to many stores, restaurants and other facilities in the region. He provided for his family and worked for then, General Bakery which eventually changed to Westons Bakery until his retirement at the age of 65.
Many passions he had were trailering, gardening, fishing, boating, swimming, and he was quite the Ballroom Dancer too!! Also enjoyed playing games; Mexican Dominos, Euchre and Bingo.....and look out if there was some wood around!! Something could and would be made or even a renovation or two! Attending and becoming an Adherent of the Cambridge Citadel Corps, attending Young At Heart, loving the musicals and inviting friends to come with them.
Reg and Doreen were very involved and Life Time Members, of The United Kingdom Club Of Cambridge. Served as Vice President and President of the club and on many committees. Reg was also a Lifetime Member of The Hespeler Legion.
Reg loved his family, especially his gorgeous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and oh so many friends. Always a hug or a handshake, always a story to tell, always a grin to be given. We will never forget you, always in our hearts. Until we meet again.
Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share with the family, memories of Reg at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge on Wednesday November 25, 2015 .Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 3-4pm. Memorial Service at 4pm and time of fellowship and refreshments directly following in the Reception room. Officiating will be Captain Nicholas Samuel & Assisting Major Harvey Pilgrim. There will be a private family interment at a later time.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lawrie and Dr. Gowing for years of excellent care. Special thanks to the nursing staff on the 5th floor of Cambridge Memorial Hospital. For the special compassion and attention shown by, Dr. Tudor Ponoran and Nurse Amy.
