Robert Alexander Dale

Aged 94, died peacefully on December 11, 2019 at Trinity Village, Kitchener, Ontario. Born in Neepawa, Manitoba to Norman Cornell Dale and Jane Sheridan, the eldest of seven children, Bob spent his youth in Hamiota before serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. Upon his return to Canada, Bob earned a B.Sc. in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba, followed by a Bachelor of Education. His first teaching job came in 1950 in Dauphin, Manitoba, whereupon Bob began a lifelong career in education and public service that took his family on adventures from Canada's north to central Africa and back to Manitoba where he spent the remainder of his career and most of his retirement years.

Renowned for his wry sense of humour, Bob was also known to take long drives in the country scanning the ditches for a rare wildflower. In his eighties, Bob discovered a passion for painting and transferred the memories of those drives onto canvas.

A gregarious fixture of whatever community he found himself a part of, Bob deeply understood people and had an uncanny ability to offer just the right word, look, or elbow to make someone feel at ease. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Predeceased by his parents and siblings Don, Hazel, Allan, Marlene, and Viola, Bob is survived by his brother, Terence Leslie “Les” Dale; his children: Linda Dale (Norman Koehle), Roellen “Marion” Miller (Joe), Gordon Dale (Kathy Kain); his grandchildren: Colin, Sarah, Laurie, Jody, and Benjamin; and ten great-grandchildren.

Bob's family wishes to thank the staff at The Village of Winston Park and Trinity Village Care Centre for their dedication to his health and wellbeing.

Cremation has taken place with interment to follow at Sheffield Cemetery, Flamborough, Ontario in the spring of 2020.
