

She is together once again with her beloved husband Edwin Kerns (2022). Devoted mother to Teresa Senyk, Kimberly Clarke, Edwin Wesley Kerns Jr., Brian James (Rebecca) Kerns, Timothy Lorne Kerns and Sherri DeHaas. Cherished grandma to Shannon (David) Herriot, Samantha (Todd) Hunter, Terry Senyk Jr., Stephen Senyk, Stephanie (George) Senyk, Christina Kerns, Tiffany (Michael) Kerns, Wesley (Maisie) Kerns, Hannah DeHaas and Holly DeHaas. Great grandma to Abigail Herriot, Jakob Hunter, Parker Herriot, Tia Kerns, Emmitt Hunter and Maverick Ball. Survived by her sister Patricia Boudreau and stepbrother Frankie Taylor. She will forever remain in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by her grandparents who also raised her, Lorne and Gladys Downs, her brother David (Sheila) Peel and sons-in-law Terry Senyk and Paul Clarke.
Bertie was a devoted stay at home mom whose greatest joy was being deeply involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. More than just present, she was an active participant – giving her time, love and support to every generation. A lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan, there was no one more passionate about her team. She also found happiness in camping adventures and cherished her vast collection of Ashton-Drake dolls.
Visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrews St, Cambridge on Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 2-4 p.m., 7-9 p.m. and Monday, March 17, 2025 from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. In honour of Bertie’s love of sports, please join us wearing your favourite teams jersey, or blue and white for her beloved Leafs. Interment will take place in the spring at Killean Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband Edwin.
