

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Salvación on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. Together again with her beloved husband Bernardo (2015), loving mother to Joyce (John) Woodbury, Francis (Josephine) Villamil and Bernie Villamil, proud Dearma to Alex, Amanda, Axel and Raiden and dear sister to Grace and Perla. Predeceased by her siblings: Victor, Ben, Cora, Joe and Tom. Salvación is a retired high school teacher. She began her career teaching at the Phillippines Womens University and held the title of Officer of the Registrar. She would later immigrate to Canada where she continued teaching in Montreal, Quebec. She was a proud member of the Citizens Assembly on Electoral Reform along with the Canadian Federation of University Women. A good business woman, Salvación also had many hobbies and talents. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed various arts and crafts projects. Her biggest passion was travelling. She was an avid cruiser, and saw many parts of the world this way. Her most recent trip included a Scandinavian cruise. Friends and family will be received on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge (519-621-1650). A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose R.C. Church, 210 South Street, Cambridge. Cremation to follow and final resting place will be Fairview Mausoleum, Niagara Falls, ON. As expressions of sympathy, donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Salvación's memory would be greatly appreciated.
