Veronica McCarthy

Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, December 27, 2012. Born in Bajoriskei, Lithuania in 1923 and emigrated to Bell Island, Newfoundland where she met and married the late Leo McCarthy (2006) and spent almost thirty years raising their children - leaves to mourn Dana (Arthur), Doreen, John (Trudy), William and Anna. Surviving Nanny are Chad (Kim) and Dawn (Christopher) and their father Doug House of Corner Brook, New-foundland and Stephanie (Stephen), Robert and Jessica, and their mother Loretta McCarthy of St. John's Newfoundland. Also missing Veronica are numerous nieces and nephews in Ontario and Newfoundland, cousin Leonas Kairis (Marija) of Lithuania, and lifelong friend Albina Kalanta of Gardner, Mass. Dearly loved by all, especially feline companion Rusty. Predeceased by husband Leo (2006), parents Jonas and Stefania Dominas, and brothers Bern Dominas and Tad (in childhood). Veronica came to Galt, Ontario in 1970 and was a hard-working employee at Newlands Textiles, Ainslie St. for 17 years until retiring in 1987. The family would like to thank the December 20th EMS team, and Grand River Hospital Emergency Department, Acute Care Observation Unit, Integrated Stroke Unit and all the health care team who made mom's last days so comfortable. Thank you. Visitation at Coutts Funeral Home , 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Sunday, December 30 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Rosary being recited at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held from St. Gregory's RC Church, 10 St. Gregory's Drive, Cambridge on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. Reception after Mass on site in the Parish Centre. Interment Mount View Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the St. Gregory Roof Fund or the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Grand River Hospital Foundation.
