Passed away peacefully, with family present. Predeceased by her mother Margaret Johnston, father Roy Taylor, brothers Darrell and Dean, beloved husband Don (Colonel Don Dailley), daughter Susan and grandson Gordon David. Ginny is survived by her 3 children Don Jr. (Sara), James and Ginny Jr. Much loved Grannie to Matthew (Holly), Susie, Melanie (Andrew), Caroline (Derek), Kimberly (Renée), Timothy, Daniel, Jessica and Kaitlin; Great Grannie to Chloe, Kaden, and Piper. Ginny was born in St. Cloud, Florida and raised in Galveston, Texas. A talented dancer, she was chosen at 18 to join Sadler’s Wells Ballet Company travelling to Europe just prior to World War II. She met her soul mate Don Dailley in the U.K. They were married in Calgary in June 1940 just before Don left for overseas with the Canadian Army. After the war, as an army wife, Ginny moved about from pillar to post with Don. They were always a team but often apart. Their postings included a stint with the Canadian Embassy in the former Yugoslavia. Back in Canada, Ginny operated ballet schools in Ottawa, Kingston, Fredericton and Mount Allison University. After “retirement” they researched and built African Lion Safari in Rockton, Ontario. “Mrs. D” was very active in the business; she especially loved caring for baby orphaned exotic animals. It was not unusual for her to have a baby lion cub on her lap at Christmas dinner. Thanks to the staff of Trinity Village Care Centre for their caring support, particularly Julia, Tammy and Nalini. There will be a visitation at T. LITTLE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE (519-623-1290), 223 Main Street, Cambridge on Monday, 19 August, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. A private family memorial service is being arranged. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
