FAMILLE

Amelia Johnson Avdellas, 84, beloved wife, loving mother and cherished Yaya, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 29th, surrounded by family. Born December 3, 1937 to Gust and Mary Johnson, she was born and raised in Ambridge, PA. Amelia held several positions, starting at the Penn Sweet Shop to managing a business. Amelia’s life was grounded in the love story she shared with her Billy Boy, husband of 62 years. Her life was filled with love for Bill, her children, grandchildren, siblings and their families and her strong faith. Amelia’s home was her sanctuary, where she welcomed everyone with an open heart and kitchen. She lived her life with a quiet and strong grace that will continue to inspire her family, friends and neighbors for years to come. Her generosity was felt by everyone who knew her, which continued until her final days, when in true Yaya form, she delivered hand written thank you notes and flowers to the therapists and nurses who helped her at rehab. She will be missed and remembered by so many, including a large extended family in Ambridge, Baden and Aliquippa, PA. The special bond she shared with her sister, Kiki Niznik, and cousin Rena Simantiras are among the things she cherished most. Her eight grandchildren will continue to honor her memory by remembering to always “put their best foot forward’.
