

Claude W. Blosser, 97, a life-long resident of Cumberland County, residing on Kohler Place in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Claude Blosser passed away on 10/25/ 2016. He was born February 11, 1919 at the Old Polyclinic Hospital that was located on Front Street in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Claude was the son of Levi and Bessie (Bentley) Blosser. Claude was the widower of Ianthea (Wolf) Blosser to whom he happily enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. Claude is survived by two sons: Claude W. Blosser, II and Hobart S. Blosser; grandson, Claude W. Blosser, III (wife, Kressie) and their children, great grandson, Claude W. Blosser, IV, great granddaughter , Brianna Blosser and great granddaughter, Kara Lynn Blosser; granddaughter Regina Fussel (husband, Van) and their child, great grandson , Blaine Fussell; grandson, Henry F. Blosser and his children, great grandson, Marshall Blosser and great granddaughter, Michaela (Blosser) Clemmons, mother of great, great grandsons, Alek and Avery Clemmons. He is also survived by niece, Sue Starr of Mechanicsburg: niece, Betsy Kluck of Florida and Sally Blosser of York; and nephew, Tom Blosser of Mechanicsburg, Jack Blosser of New Cumberland.
Claude’s education began by attending a one room school house that stood in front of the Peace Church on Trindle Road for six years. He then attended two years at the Old Sporting Hill School on Sporting Hill Road. It has since been demolished He graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1937 and went on to attend Dickinson College.
His employment began as an employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad. He reached the status of Foreman at the Harrisburg Engine House and remained for 8 years repairing steam locomotives. Claude became a representative and manager for the Sherwin-Williams Paint Company. Finally, he became the owner of the Plaza Hardware Store located in the West Shore Plaza of Lemoyne. He retired in 1982.
During his employment Claude had a very eventful life. He piloted an airplane and captained a yacht. He was a member of the Advisory Board of Dauphin Deposit Bank and Trust Company for seventeen years. The last three years he served as Chairman of the Board. Claude was a member of Eureka West Shore Lodge 302, Free and Accepted Masons, and Harrisburg Consistory Zembo Shrine for over 70 years. Claude belonged to the Pilgrim Commandery #11, Knights Templer, Royal Arch Chapter #21, Harrisburg Council #7, Cumberland County Shrine Club, Charter member of Hershey Shrine Club, Member of the Humane Society of United States, Smithsonian Institution, National Audubon Society and Life Member of the National Handyman Club. Claude also was a nationally recognized bird feeder for over 60 years.
Claude was the 8th generation of native born ancestry who received a parcel of land from the Penns.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 from Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St. Camp Hill. With Father Calvin Van Kirk Hoyt officiating. Entombment will be in Rolling Green Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Episcopal Church, 125 N. 25th Street, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania 17011.
