Doris S. Hookway

She was born in Harrisburg on January 26th 1926. She grew up in Camp Hill attending primary and secondary school. After graduating from high school, she attended Chatham Women’s College in Pittsburgh receiving a BS in education. She furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin where she was awarded her master’s in education. After college she lived in Upper Darby and taught in an elementary school.

In the summers she took trips to Europe where she met her future husband Ronald F Hookway who lived in Burmingham England. They were married on January 3rd 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church where Doris was a lifetime member. She loved to travel, play games and eat ice cream. Her favorite thing was to spend time with her grandchildren. She would have each of them for a week by themselves every summer.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ron and her brother Dr. Vance B Snyder and great grandson Joshua Edwards. She is survived by her daughter Carol and husband Dr. Robert Willey and son Douglass and wife Susan Hookway. She is also survived by grandchildren Chris Hookway and wife Amanda, Dori Caligiure and husband Chase, Christina Meek and husband Corey, David Hofmann and great grandchildren Josie, Ella and Tristan.

A memorial service will be held on September 13th 2024 at 11AM at Trinity Lutheran Church; 2000 Chestnut St, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A visitation will precede the memorial service at 10 AM at the church.
