She was born April 15, 1933, in Ottawa, Ohio, the daughter of the late Mary (Blodgett) and Noah Fought. She was always passionate about being from the Buckeye State and expressing her love for children and animals.
Doris worked as a secretary for a number of employers including the Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima Ohio, and she retired from the Mine Safety Appliances office in Murrysville, PA.
She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women at her church in Murrysville. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano, and singing in her church choirs. She was an enthusiastic stargazer, enjoyed reading, and liked visiting U.S. historical sites. She took pleasure in making people laugh and in completing needlepoint projects. She and her husband Antonio moved to Mechanicsburg in 2005 after living in Murrysville for 36 plus years.
Doris was preceded in passing by her husband Antonio Morrone in 2011; sister Marilyn Pickens in 1987; and her mother Mary Fought in 1985.
Surviving her are her daughters; Marisa (Thomas) George, and Kathleen Morrone; her grandchildren, Charlotte, Nicolas and Mary; great grandchildren Evie and Anthony; and nephews Mitchell and Robb Pickens.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Neill Funeral Home in Camp Hill, PA. A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00am on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 5000 Simpson Ferry Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. A visitation time will occur at the church beforehand from 10:00-11:00am. Following the service, there will be a luncheon held in the church fellowship hall.
Private Graveside services will take place at 12:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Twin Valley Memorial Park; 483 Athena Dr, Delmont, PA 15626.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to either the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) or the CURE Alzheimer’s Fund (All donations to this fund are exclusively dedicated for Scientific Research).
