Earl L. "Lee" Boltz, 70, of Harrisburg, died on September 24, 2021, in the company of his loving family. Lee was born on Christmas Eve, 1950, the son of the late Albert H. and Mary V. Boltz. He attended Millersville State University and served two tours of duty in the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class. He worked for many years in insurance and retail sales, as well as the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. In 2017, Lee became the rental manager and booking agent for the Scottish Rite Cathedral, where he enthusiastically – as he did everything – set about renovating and re-introducing the facility to the people of the area, bringing in a wide variety of entertainment. He was a member of Robert Burns Lodge 464, and of the Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg. Lee was also involved in the arts. He was the Executive Director and a performer with the Harrisburg Ballet Company; served the Hershey Community Chorus as its President and Executive Producer from 2005 to 2018; and served on the board of the Hershey Symphony Orchestra from 2016 to 2019, and as President of the Board from 2017 to 2019. Lee is survived by his loving spouse and partner of 40 years, John G. Knorr, III; and by his sister Mary Bellamy, his nephew Shannon Bellamy, his nieces Jennifer Kurz and Kathleen Bolner, and their spouses and children. In 2001, Lee and John visited and fell in love with the Lake Champlain Islands; and they returned every summer to spend time with their "Vermont family." Lee was an accomplished baker, and his pies became famous at the inn where they stayed. He was a doting uncle and great-uncle to his younger relatives, and thoroughly spoiled a series of rescue dogs over the years. There will be no viewing. A memorial and celebration of Lee's life will be held at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 2701 North Third Street, Harrisburg, on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 4 p.m. All are welcome.
