Born in 1933, Filippo Bruzzese grew up in Mammola, Reggio Calabria, Italy, where he cultivated a deep appreciation for family, community, and hard work. He married the love of his life, Rosa, and together they built a life filled with love and shared experiences.
Filippo's dedication to his family was unwavering. He and Rosa's enduring 63-year marriage demonstrates the power of love, commitment, and partnership. As a father, he instilled strong values of kindness, integrity, and perseverance in his children: Antonia (Kevin) Baum, Joe (Paola) Bruzzese, Dominic (Diane) Bruzzese, and Angelina (Doug) Fones. He was their guiding light, always there to provide a comforting presence.
Among his many roles, Filippo cherished being a grandfather and great-grandfather. He was affectionately called "Nonno" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his later years. He shared countless moments of laughter, storytelling, and life lessons with Jessamy, Matthew, Jason, Alessandra, Gabriella, Kayla, Colton, Eli, Giavanna, Aoyen, and Gino. His legacy will undoubtedly live on through the generations he touched.
Filippo's warm and approachable nature drew people to him effortlessly. He was known for his infectious smile, willingness to lend a helping hand, and genuine interest in the lives of others. Whether through sharing a meal, a story, or a laugh, he uniquely made everyone feel like family.
As we say goodbye to Filippo Bruzzese, we celebrate a life well-lived, a legacy of love, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever serve as a reminder of the importance of cherishing the simple moments, valuing our loved ones, and living each day with gratitude.
He was a proud and active member of St. Patrick's Cathedral. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held in his honor at St. Patrick's Cathedral Harrisburg on August 14, 2023, at 10:00 am, followed by a committal service at Gate of Heaven, 1313 S. York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA. Visitation will take place at St. Patrick’s Cathedral from 9:00am – 10:00am.
Filippo Bruzzese's light will continue to shine through the lives he touched, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
