Janice L. Beyrent of Camp Hill passed away on March 11th, 2022 in Dillsburg, PA. Jan was born in 1934 in Titusville, PA and grew up in Fayetteville, NY and Kingston, PA. She attended high school at Wyoming Seminary in Kingston and graduated from Syracuse University, receiving a degree in Education. She was a member of Tri Delt Sorority.
Jan was a lifelong educator. She started her career teaching elementary children with special needs. In 1957, she won a fellowship to teach American children on the U.S. Army base in Baumholder Germany. It was in Baumholder that she met her future husband, Captain John R. Beyrent, Jr. The two married in 1959 and eventually settled in Camp Hill, PA. They were married for 56 years before his death in 2015.
Jan was a full-time mother when her children were young, but returned to teaching at Brookside Montessori in Camp Hill, where she was a member of the teaching staff for decades. In addition to teaching, Jan was active in the Junior Civic Club and the Red Cross, where she assisted and led the Learn to Swim Program in Camp Hill for many years. She was active in the Girl Scouts and taught Sunday School at Camp Hill Presbyterian Church.
Jan loved traveling, reading and, cooking. She and Jack often hosted dinner parties at their home in Camp Hill and she was known for her cooking and her graciousness.
Jan was very active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives and was proud of the fact that she taught all of them how to read.
The daughter of the late Ornan King Lamb and Janice Filsinger Lamb, Jan was predeceased by her husband, Jack, and her son, Jeffrey Beyrent, both of Camp Hill. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Karen Twichell of Syracuse, NY and Noreen (Nikki) Major of Malvern, PA.
She is survived by her daughter and son -in -law, Karen and John Brassel of Dillsburg; her grandchildren, Cameron Beyrent, of New York City, Taylor Beyrent Hundur, of Nashville, Tennessee, Jillian Brassel, of Aiken, South Carolina, Janelle Brassel, of Pasadena, Maryland; and step grandsons Zachery Burhrman, Adam Brassel, and Jason Brassel. She has one great grandchild, Mateo Hundur, also of Nashville, Tennessee.
There will be a visitation held on Saturday, March 26th from 10:00-11:00 at Neill Funeral home in Camp Hill. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am. Jan will be laid to rest with her husband at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to The Residential Hospice Foundation be considered.
