

Kenneth Wayne Catlin, a retired high school principal died on April 25, 2025. The longtime Severn resident was 84. Mr. Catlin was a beloved husband and father, and served as a teacher, coach, and administrator for 31 years in Anne Arundel County. He was principal of Annapolis High School and Arundel High School before retiring in 1994.
Mr. Catlin was born in Salisbury, MD, the son of Floyd A. Catlin and Bessie (Derby) Catlin. Mr. Catlin earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Salisbury State University. In 1963 he moved to Anne Arundel County and taught history, English, and social studies before moving to administration. In 1964 he married Nancy Cassel.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Mr. Catlin coached high school baseball and many youth league teams. Other hobbies included hunting and fishing. A true bibliophile, he was a prolific reader in his retirement. Mr. Catlin was a member and elder of Harundale Presbyterian Church in Glen Burnie.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his daughter Kara L. Moore (Wayne) of Colorado Springs, CO and son Aaron C. Catlin (Mary Kate) of Glenville, PA, grandson Samuel A. Moore, granddaughter Grace E. Catlin, granddaughter Jenna A. Moore, and grandson Joseph T. Catlin. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Jay Catlin.
A memorial service will be held at Harundale Presbyterian Church at 11AM on May 24. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harundale Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
