Our family would like to announce to Mom’s friends and family that she has finally made her Home Coming, which occurred the evening of March 3rd at Chapel Pointe. Those who were privileged to be with her during her transition from earthly existence to Life, Present-With-The-Lord: Keith Copeland, Chris Copeland, Kent Copeland, Kendra (Copeland) Moore, Zachary Moore, and Katie Copeland.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Frankie Grove; sister, Cecelia Grove; and foster sisters Anna Carlock and Donna Kreider.
Leutitia Anne Grove Copeland was born on January 23, 1938, in Huntingdon, PA to the late John H. and Margaret J. (Henderson) Grove. She was one of three siblings - the only one to survive longer than toddlerhood. She was a talented musician and majored in Music at Houghton College, and then in Elementary Education at Geneva College. It was at Geneva that she met her sweetheart, Keith Copeland. A year later, in 1958, they were wed - a marriage that endured for 64 wonderful years.
Keith was born to be a pastor, and Mom was born to be a pastor’s wife. They served the Lord together, side-by-side, through 7 pastorates. Orlando Reformed Presbyterian Church was where they got started. Subsequent pastorates included the Beaver RP church, Elysburg CMA, Mechanicsburg Immanuel CMA, Naperville CMA, Minneola CMA, and finally at the Chapel of Good Samaritan Retirement Village. Mom worked alongside Dad, serving the King in whatever capacity was needed. She played the organ and piano and saxophone for worship time. She was an excellent hostess. Also, she was frequently involved in counseling and mentoring women.
Mom was gifted, not only in music, but also in arts and crafts. Her cooking skills were impressive – regaling her family with the most wonderful meals. Perhaps her favorite pastime was going to the Mall – with Grandma Grove, whenever possible. She delighted in finding a ‘Sale’ sign on whatever item she was seeking. One of her top passions was teaching grade school and kindergarten with gusto. She invested heavily in the lives of many children, earning ‘Teacher of the Year’ for her school numerous times during her career.
