

She was born January 29, 1938 in Shenandoah, PA to the late Ida Moore Haas and James Franklin Haas Jr. She resided in the Jacksonville Beach area for more than 30 years and lived her last 6 and a half years in Washington County Maryland.
She graduated from JW Cooper High School in Shenandoah PA. Joined the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Services) in 1957 and served 2 years at the US Naval Air Station in Alameda California. She retired in 2003 from the US Office of Department of labor.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Ronald D. Smillie Jr., son David H. Smillie, and Brother James F. Haas, III.
She is survived by her sister Mary W. Haas, Nephew Jake Haas and family, Nieces Kelly Lederman, Julie Rodriguez, Caroline McAndrew and families, step-Daughter Bonnie Fletcher, Granddaughter Shilo Mills (Joey) and Great Grandchildren Cole, Aden, Lillia, Josiah, and Amaya.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Benevola United Methodist in Boonsboro MD conducted by Pastor Suzanne Jones and Pastor Darrell Layman. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 10:30am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA for both Margaret and Ronald Smillie.
