

She was born February 22, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late John Bateman and Rita Kelly Bateman.
She was a graduate of Rosemont College with a degree in Chemistry. She worked for the Food and Drug Administration followed by SmithKline French as a chemist in the department of research and development.
She married Edward G. Dailey, MD on March 3, 1962. For nearly forty years, she served as office manager for Edward G Dailey, MD, PC and later for Dailey Harvey Eye Associates.
She was actively involved in the community and served as President of the Dauphin County Medical Axillary and as Director of the Capital Area Health Foundation. She was a Board member of the Paradise School in Abbottstown, Pa, and a Board member of the Harrisburg YMCA. She was active in Good Shepherd Parish serving as a CCD teacher and as a member of the Building Committee.
Rita was an avid athlete and particularly enjoyed tennis and golf. Her greatest passion was raising five sons and later welcoming five daughter-in-laws and eleven grandchildren into her family.
Her family and friends are very grateful for the gift of extended life that Rita received on March 4, 2005 when she was the recipient of a lung transplant at the University of Pittsburgh.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Robert and John Bateman.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edward G. Dailey, MD and her sister, Jane Bateman Sheahan. She is also survived by her five sons Edward, John, Stephen, Gilbert, and David and their wives Carol, Elizabeth, Kristin, Melissa, and Christine, respectively. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Good Shepherd Church in Camp Hill, Pa at 11a.m. Friday January 9, 2015; Visitation with the family will be at the Neill Funeral Home, Camp Hill, from 6p.m. until 8p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 and at Good Shepherd Church from 10a.m. until 11a.m. Friday immediately preceding the funeral service.
