Dave has peacefully left us to catch his final tide at sunrise off the Cape. Born in Winnipeg, Dave moved with his family to Ocean Falls, where he grew up, surrounded by friends, who would remain lifelong companions.
It was there he met and married the love of his life, Marilyn. After completing his electrical apprenticeship, in 1965 Dave and Marilyn settled in Campbell River, where he began his career at Elk Falls Mill and together, they raised two daughters. They built a life, rich in friendship, adventure and deep family roots.
Dave retired from the mill, leaving behind a legacy of strong leadership, respect and dedication. In retirement he and Marilyn embraced the joy of travel and cherished time with family while he remained an engaged community member dedicated to addressing challenges with integrity and care. Dave was always ready with a helping hand, good advice, and kind words. He had a presence that filled a room and a genuine nature that made him as real as they come. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was happiest outdoors, embracing the simple joys of life.
Dave is lovingly remembered by his wife Marilyn; his daughters Debbie (Tim) and Deanna (Rod); his grandchildren David, Derek (Hillary), Mel, and Chad (Erin); his great-grandson, Daniel; and many extended family members. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by many. Heartfelt thank you to Dr Prinsloo and deeply grateful to the staff at CR Hospital for their kindness and care. Thank you to the many others who visited him frequently.
Off to fish with his buddy Harold…. tips up, tight lines!
Please join us in celebrating Dave’s life Friday April 10, between 1-4pm at the Maritime Heritage Centre in Campbell River.
