Dora Whittington

April 21, 1923 - October 6, 2010

Maud was born in Vancouver BC, then taken home to Read Island where she grew up in the next bay from her future husband Bill. Maud spent her early years on Read Island raising her family and helping in Bill's logging camp. In 1964 Maud and her family moved to Quadra Island where they developed the farm. In later years Maud and Bill spent a lot of time cod fishing on their boat.

Maud was predeceased by her parents Jim and Dolly, brothers Kelly, Duane, sister Ruth and husband Bill (1993), survived by sister Sylva, Maud will be very much missed by son Dick (Peggy) daughter Dorathy, grandchildren Lisa, Shale and Kris, great grandsons Jody, Skyler and Jared.

Maud passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 6th at Yucalta Lodge. She had been a resident there for 11 years after being cared for on the farm by her granddaughter Lisa from 1993 to 1999. Maud's family will be forever grateful to the most caring wonderful staff that took such loving kind care of Maud always. She kept the staff and fellow residents on their toes with her quick wit and feisty spirit.

We will all miss you terribly Mom.

There will be a remembrance service for Maud at Yucalta Lodge on October 24, 2010 at 2:00pm followed by a tea. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Maud's name to the charity of your choice.
