Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; he passed peacefully surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Donalda; his daughters Karen (Phil), Ann (Greg) and his son Tom (Trista); his grandchildren: Joey, Natasha (Josh), Jessica, Jordyn, Heather (Nick), Brendan (Kathleen), Sydney (Matthew); his great grandchildren: Kayden, Kyra, Emily and Theodore; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Doug was born in Comox BC and started his life at Cape Mudge on Quadra Island. He met and married Donalda while working in Ucluelet and from there, they began their life and family together. He was a hardworking Vancouver Islander for his entire life. In addition to being a commercial fisherman, he was a miner, heavy equipment operator, truck driver, camp caretaker and was finally convinced to retire in his 70's. He was a dedicated family man and put them above all; although his boats, and the sea were pretty high on his list of loves as well.
Our family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional care that had been provided to Dad for these past many months.

No service will be held at Doug's request; a private family ceremony will take place at a later date. Please celebrate the good times you've shared with him, and perhaps a smile and nod of the head to the ocean, as you remember the twinkle of those blue eyes.
