As a young woman, Florence thought she would dedicate and live her life as a School Teacher. She began her teaching career in a one room school house in Bemidgi Minnesota teaching grades K-8. “MAGIC” began when she crossed paths with a Serviceman on a train when she was returning home after a holiday. An exchange of addresses; many letters later…..Florence married her high school “crush”, Duane Campbell. (the guy who flirtatiously tugged at her hair in “study hall”) (Back in those days, a woman had to choose between a career or Love & marriage!!!)
And now it’s beautiful history…..69 years with her love, Duane!!!
After their two children, Bruce and Sheila left the “nest”, the two of them barged their car & all their life possessions to Cortes Isl. B.C in 1967…….where she spent a very special 30 years of her life…….milking her toggenberg goats, veggie/flower gardening and spending lots of time with her most special grandchildren. (sharing her talents of creativeness; including making dolls and drawing portraits!!!)
The last 4 years, Florence was loved and cared for by the staff @ New Horizons, where on her last day with us, she left to be in “forever peacefulness” with her husband, Duane!
