

Irvin was born in Comox BC Dec 5 1928 to Oscar and Catherine Olsen. He grew up in Courtenay where he graduated grade 12. Irvin went to work at the Mill building the power house for the Dam. He then purchased a logging truck and worked with his father hauling logs and his career in the Logging Industry started there. He moved from Courtenay to Powell River and then 3 years later to Lake Cowichan all in trucking until 1966. At that time he started logging with a steel spar and then to full phase logging, moved to Campbell River in 1972 and worked most of the coast of British Columbia until he retired.
He met the love of his life JoAnn Walters in Courtenay riding the school bus, they were married and raised 4 children and had 78 years together. The most important thing to Irvin was his family. His children their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was the light of his life. He was predeceased by his father Oscar, mother Catherine and Father In Law Gordon, Mother-in-Law Pearl and Sister-in-Law Glenys.
He is survived by daughter Cathy (Larry) daughter Suzan (Kieth) son Keith (Sari) son Tom (Louise). His Grandchildren Danny Shelley Brad Deanna (Rif) Brenda, Kyle (Angela) Colin (Courtney) Lukas (Robyn) Layne (Christy) and Levon (Hayden). His Greatgrandchildren, Gracyn, Austyn, Adelyn, Axtyn, Aubryn, Zareen, Evryn, Raeya, Wells, Sawyer, Gus, Trevor, Julia, Grace, Keagan, Justine. He was loved by all and in return he loved them all and they will all miss him but have lots of great memories of times spent together.
He is also survived by his sister-in-Law Valerie Kirby and many nieces and nephew.
The family would like to thank the Caregivers from Home Instead for there care for the last two years as well as his granddaughter Brenda whom took wonderful care of him, well as the North Island Hospital Staff for their care as well. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
