Born in Vancouver, raised in the Fraser Valley and beach-combed away her later years in Campbell River, Kim passed away peacefully and comfortably at the age of 68 surrounded by family love and laughter.
Family was everything to Kim. Her source of strength. Her comfort and support. Time spent with her four grandchildren Mira, Elliana, Finn and Alexia was her greatest joy. She was proud of her sons, Matthew and Sean, who gave her many happy memories. She was the eldest of a big, beautiful blended family that was raised on love, laughter, and large family meals. She was predeceased by her mother, Joan Wilson, who instilled the sense of family in her, and by her father, Stanley Falys, who gave her the dark humour she reveled in.
Kim lived life on her own terms, with a child-like sense of adventure and joy in the world around her. Her knack in going for a walk and coming back with a bouquet of wild flowers and native greenery was her calling card. She thrilled to feel the wind in her face and watch a storm roll in or a duck swim by. From balcony pigeon-keeper and hummingbird-caregiver to poker in tidal pools and collector of pretty rocks, Kim saw beauty in the simple things and cared about nature passionately.
Kim always dreamed of the next family beach fire, and did so to her dying breath. She loved us all dearly, and will be sorely missed.
We invite you to share any pictures and stories that Kim would enjoy. If you so chose, donations to MARS Wildlife Rescue Centre would make her smile.
