As the daughter of a Swedish missionary Bea was born in Tianjin, China in 1942. In 1946 it was no longer safe for foreign missionaries to remain in China and the family returned to Sweden settling in a little town called Skara. In 1950 Carl would once again move the entire Silfwerbrand family to continue his missionary work this time settling in Shirakawa, Japan. In 1958 the family boarded the ocean liner - Hikawa Maru for the 3 week journey to Seattle. From Seattle they piled into the 1952 Chrysler that awaited them and drove across the United States eventually ending up in Ottawa.
While in Ottawa Bea met Herb and they started their 56 years together. In 1967 they welcomed their first child Greg. In 1968 they packed up everything they owned and made the trip across Canada eventually making their home in Campbell River. They welcomed their second child Kevin in 1969 followed by Kristi in 1972. While in Campbell River Bea joined the Anglican Church Women’s Group where she would be a dedicated member through to the day she passed. She looked forward every week to the groups Wednesday meetings to connect with the “ACW ladies”, many who had become lifelong friends.
Family was very important to Bea. She loved to cook and bake for hosted family events and her “goodie trays” will be a much missed treat at Christmas. Bea was extremely proud of her grandsons and cherished time spent with them and watching them grow up in to fine young men.
Please join us in celebrating Bea’s life at 2:00pm, Sunday, September 11th at the Anglican Church located at 228 S Dogwood Street, Campbell River. Refreshments and reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
