The death of John Robert 'Jackie' Gillis occurred at his residence on May 23, 2005, at the age of 74. Born in Campbellton, N.B., he was the son of the late Grace Coffin and late James Gillis. Also predeceasing him were a sister, Alice and a brother, Freeman.
He is survived by his sister Ada Coffin (Carter) of Gaspé, Qc, and four brothers: Frank of Lake George, N.B., Lloyd of Campbellton, Charles (Elizabeth Ann) of Runny Mede, Qc and Clarence of Campbellton. He is also survived by his residence friends: George, Billy, Dany, Randy, Roger, Raymond, T.Paul, Léopold and Gordie; also by some nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held on May 25, 2005 in the Christ Church Anglican, officiated by Rev. Arnold Godsoe. Interment was held in the Dawsonville Cemetery.
