

Joseph Vernon Isaac better known as “Joe Louis,” left to the spirit world on February 10, 2025, at the age of 86, husband of Marilyn B. Vicaire. Born in Listuguj on March 25, 1938, son of the late Jeanette Isaac and the late Roddie MacKenzie (Pictou Landing).
Joe Louis was a lover of the Mi’gmaw language and often spent time teaching us the language through story telling. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed being out on the land. A private man, an ironworker, fisherman, hunter and farmer, he was happy to share what he caught or reaped from his garden or catch.
Left to mourn his wife of 33 years, Marilyn B. Vicaire, his sisters Dorothy, Shirley, Jean (Boston), and Theresa (Keith Julian, Millbrook, NS); His sons, Vincent (Montreal) and General Lee; Daughters Sylvia, Sandra, Sheila (Stephen Marshall, Membertou, NS), Stacey (New York) and numerous nephews and nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Honorable mention of grandchildren; Jordan, Wynde, Honor, Winter, Montana, Mary, Paige (Miriam), Alyssa, Chantal (Sam Thompson, Saint John, NB), Sage, Jossie, Mary, Brooke (Pierre Luc), River, Omri and Kaila.
He was predeceased by his son Vernon, brother’s; Eugene MacKenzie (Pictou Landing), Morris, Fred, and his sister Mae Francis.
No funeral service was held as per the wishes of Joe Louis. A family visitation took place at Savoie’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 prior to his cremation.
