

Born in Fordyce, NE, November 19, 1935 to Anton and Regina (Boeckman) Weinandt,
Maurita is survived by the joys of her life, son Bryan D. Weinandt, grandson Bryan A. Weinandt, three stepsons: David Diehl (Christy), San Diego; John Diehl Jr. (Dale), Costa Mesa; Paul Diehl (April), Northridge; 6 step-grandchildren and many, many friends.
She is also survived by half-sister Opal Smith (Sioux City), sister Del Rae Dickes and brother Gerard, both residing in Yankton, SD.
She was preceded in death by her Mom, Dad, Step-mother, husband Dr. John Diehl, brother De of Canoga Park and sister Vi, Baton Rouge, LA.
Maurita enjoyed a full life both private and professional. After high school she joined St. Joseph’s Convent in Milwaukee, WI where she enjoyed the wonderful community life for 13 years. She received her B.S.N from Alverno College, Milwaukee, WI and M.S.N. from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. She taught Nursing at Alverno College, Cal State University, and Mt. Marty College in Yankton, SD. Maurita served as Director of Nursing Services at Canoga Park Hospital and Director of Continued Nursing Education at Learning Tree University in Chatsworth.
She and husband John loved to travel and visited every continent except Antarctica, Australia being their favorite.
Memorial services will be held at Gates, Kingsley & Gates, Canoga Park, CA.
Funeral services will be held in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fordyce, NE. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home.
