Phyllis B. Becker

Phyllis was born February 06, 1939 in Leimert Park, Los Angeles Ca. She was the daughter of Annabelle and George Pickett and was raised in the Los Angeles area. When she was a sophomore in high school her family moved to Van Nuys, Ca. She met and married her soul mate John N. Becker in Van Nuys, in 1958. The Becker’s moved to Simi Valley in 1964 and raised two children there.

Phyllis studied the arts and loved using her talents to make crafts, paint, and arrange flowers. Phyllis and John made wood crafts for many years and sold them at craft shows throughout the Southern California area.

She started decorating her home, which has affectionately become known as the Simi Valley Christmas House, in 1964. Her talents and spirit are remembered by thousands of smiling faces young and old. She added something new every year for the enjoyment of her visitors for generations.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 56 years, John N. Becker, her two children, John P. Becker and Deborah A. Mavrolas, her daughter-in-law and son-in-law Joanne A. Kristol-Becker and Steve Mavrolas. Phyllis was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 20 Great grandchildren, 2 Niece’s, 2 Nephew’s and a long list of Friends. She will be missed not only by family but by the residents of Simi Valley as well.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her father, George Pickett (1996) and her mother Anna Belle Pickett (2014).

Services: Monday, March 24, 2014 from 9am – 10am at Gates Kingsley & Gates Praisewater Mortuary, 6909 Canoga Ave., Canoga Park, CA 91303.

Internment service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Chatsworth Ca, on Monday, March 24, 2014 @10:30am. Graveside services will be performed by Pastor Stan Harris.
