A very valuable teaching he passed to us…Was to savor the moment. I remember us sitting beside him after dinner at our summer getaway, Catalina Island. He would be smoking his cigar, gazing out at those crimson clad boats at twilight, as they rocked gently in Avalon harbor. Yes, savoring that moment on so many levels! Some people look, but don’t see. Dad saw.
Dad’s formal training was in commercial art and photography. He and his cohorts in the commercial art world here in Hollywood, were in many ways, the west coast equivalent of the Madison Avenue ‘MAD MEN’ we now see depicted on television. His lettering and design collaborations helped produce many of the iconic product art pieces of the middle, to late 20th century. From famous movie posters to popular cosmetic brand logos and packaging designs, he made his mark.

As all who knew him can attest, he also excelled in the art of painting with words. He will be remembered and missed also for his world class skills as a historian, philosopher and yes…therapist!
My dad was so loved by all who knew him.
Now, so missed by those same who now mourn his passing.
Miss you Dad!
We will cross the channel with you, one last time.
Fair winds to Avalon.
