Robert Thomas Carter (1943-2020), 76, died May 6, 2020, with his loving wife by his side in Woodland Hills, CA.
A Memorial Service and Full Military Funeral Service will be held at a later time, TBD, at the Los Angeles National Memorial Cemetery surrounded by his family and friends.
Robert Carter, son of Mary and Ben Carter was a loving father of one surviving son Matthew Carter, a wonderful husband of a surviving wife Susan Carter, an amazing Grandfather to Isabella Carter, and caring Father-in-law to Emy Semillano. He is also survived by his sister Alice Gardner and brother Joseph Carter.
Robert Carter was an amazing man that touched many lives, provided for his family, and served his country proudly. He was born Robert Thomas Carter, son of Mary and Ben Carter on Dec. 28th 1943. He lived a loving childhood surrounded with family, and spent many a day exploring the world around him. With the support of his brothers and sisters he had a happy and complete childhood, and graduated high school at The Nelson Memorial High School with a thirst for learning and betterment.
Robert achieved the opportunity for betterment when he enlisted in to the United States Air Force on Feb. 1st 1962 in Richmond, Virginia, about 130 miles east of his home and birthplace of Lynchburg, Virginia. He traveled the world and served his country proudly for 20 years in the Air Force as a Decorated Vietnam Veteran. He was stationed during his Military Career at 11 Air Force Bases around the World, Stationed in 5 US States, and Stationed in 5 Countries serving 3 Military Tours of Service. He Retired from the USAF in April 1982. He Retired as a Technical Sergeant (TSGT) with honors as a Aircraft Mechanical Engineer on his beloved F-4 Phantom Fighter Jet.
He started his second half of his life doing many jobs including Security Guard, and most notably serving the American People as a Supervisor for the United States Postal Service, where he put in 23 years of service, and gained his second full retirement of his life.
Robert Carter was married to Susan Greene in 1968 and she became his loving wife for 52 years of marriage. They had one son Matthew Carter in 1983 and his honor of Fatherhood began. For 52 years he was a loving and supporting Husband, for 37 years he was a loving, caring, compassionate father, who was always teaching his son everything he knew to be a, “true man” as he was. He passed down that fatherly love to his son, and he was honorably promoted to Grandfather, and Father-in-Law in 2016 with the birth of Isabella Carter. He continued to pass that love and understanding to his granddaughter who has a very strong connection with her grandfather, whom she will miss.
