

She was born October 27, 1934, in Jamestown, North Dakota to the late Thorwald Knudsen and Mable (Bergeson) Lokken.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Flavin in 1980 and her son, Thomas Flavin in 2014.
Following her high school graduation, Shirley moved to Minneapolis to start her career. There she met her husband, Donald Flavin and together they had seven children. Shirley's greatest love and achievement was being a mother and grandmother (Gacky). She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and was the definition of a true mama bear.
Shirley was admired for her strength and joie de vivre. She was a statuesque beauty with a smile that would light up a room. Everyone adored her quick wit and lively personality. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling the world.
She is survived her her children, Patrick, (Laurie), Mitchel, Shannon, Tricia, (Neal) Jennifer, (Sylvester), Julie, (T.J.), her beloved grandchildren, Michael, (Jenna), Joshua, Ryan, Nicole, Brock, Sophia, Natalie, Sistine, Scarlet, Jake, Eva, Luke, and her beautiful great grandchildren, Skyler and Scarlet.
Besides her husband, son and her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Beverly Jones, and Patricia Henka.
Visitation- Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at Gates, Kingsley & Gates Praiswater Mortuary located at 6909 Canoga Avenue, Canoga Park.
Funeral Service - Monday, February 28, 2022, 1:15pm at St. Bernardine of Siena Catholic Parish, 24410 Calvert Street, Woodland Hills.
The funeral service will be followed by a short drive to her final resting place, Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, California.
