Anne Marcia Linde

Born in Boston, MA, she was the only child of the late William and Selma (Stern) Harris. She was the beloved wife of David Linde, with whom she shared 66 years and 10 months of marriage prior to his passing in 2017.

Proud mother, Anne is survived by her sons Michael Linde of Florida, Mark Linde and his wife Teri of Bridgewater, MA, and Gregg Linde and his wife Mary Beth of Norfolk, MA. Known affectionately as “Nannee”, spelling of her own choosing and inescapable creativity, she was the treasured grandmother of Steven Linde and his wife Yamit, Benjamin and Philip Linde, William and Marion Linde, and loving great-grandmother of Levi and Lennon Linde.

Anne was born on June 7th, 1928 and was raised in and around the Boston area. She often talked with enthusiasm about graduating high school early and starting Boston Teachers’ College ahead of schedule to obtain her undergraduate degree. She later received her Master’s in Education from Bridgewater State College by going to night school. Although she took a break from teaching to devote herself to raising a family, Anne still managed to dedicate 30 years to teaching in Boston, Brookline, Bridgewater and Brockton. Anne loved to joke that she never made it past the 3rd grade, as she committed herself to elementary education and adored teaching the “little kids.”

Anne, referred to fondly by many as Marcia, enjoyed arts & crafts, music, cooking and was an avid reader. The only activity that she relished more than reading was beachgoing at her cherished Nantasket. Spending summers at the beach home she purchased with David in Hull, MA in 1969 was one of Anne’s greatest joys. She delighted in the frolicking of her own family, as well as that of the neighborhood families, and always looked forward to the sense of community she experienced with her summer friends.

Upon retirement, Anne and David traveled Europe extensively and continued to partake in their favored trips to Puerto Rico for as long as they were able. Always a social and outgoing woman, Anne tapped into her indomitable spirit during these last years to maintain participation in her preferred activities, keep up with current events and appreciate the good where she saw it. Bolstered by excellent care thoughtfully administered through Gentiva Hospice, Anne derived much comfort and pleasure from the many calls and visits by Gregg, Mary Beth, Ben, William and Marion.

Funeral services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA on Tuesday, April 25th at 10:00am, followed by burial at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA.

A celebration of Anne Marcia’s life will be held this summer in recognition of her passion for the warmest, sunniest of times.
