

Arnold “Arnie” Berman passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at the age of 75.
Born on October 2, 1950, in Buffalo, New York, Arnie lived a life defined by excellence—both on the basketball court and in the courtroom. A beloved husband, Brother, father, grandfather, uncle, attorney, and distinguished athlete, he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Arnie grew up with a passion for sports and scholarship and went on to become one of the most iconic figures in Brown University men’s basketball history. Playing from 1969 to 1972, he set multiple scoring and rebounding records and was recognized not only for his athletic ability but also for his dedication and relentless work ethic. His contributions to Brown’s basketball legacy were later honored with his induction into the Brown University Athletics Hall of Fame, Class of 1978.
After graduating from Brown University, Arnie pursued advanced studies, earning an M.B.A. from New York University and a law degree from the University of Miami School of Law. He dedicated his professional life to practicing law in Florida, ultimately becoming a respected attorney with Shutts & Bowen LLP in West Palm Beach, where he served as a partner and leader in the firm’s litigation group. His legal acumen, integrity, and commitment to his clients made him a trusted name in commercial litigation for decades.
Throughout his legal career, Arnie was known not only as a fierce advocate in the courtroom but also as a mentor and leader among his peers. His contributions helped shape the legal community of South Florida, and his professional legacy will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Arnie’s life was deeply enriched by his family. He was the son of the late Rita and Melvin Berman. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sondra Berman; his loving daughter, Andrea Kelliher; his son-in-law, Christopher Kelliher; and his cherished granddaughter, Sloane Kelliher.
A man of boundless energy and curiosity, Arnie balanced his professional commitments with meaningful time spent with family and friends. He was a mentor, a role model, and a source of enduring love and support to those fortunate enough to know him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on March 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA 02021.
Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA.
