Boris Abraham Seidman, 97 years young, entered into rest on August 17, 2023. Boris was a devoted husband to his late wife Beatrice and during their 62 year marriage they raised two children, Sandra Earl (Jim) and Jimmy (deceased) and were blessed with two grandsons, Harrison Earl (Elisabeth) and David Earl.
Boris Seidman was born in Boston to Joseph and Bertha and had one brother, the late Eli Seidman. He grew up with a close extended family that included eight first cousins, all male. A child of the Depression, he delivered groceries for his family’s grocery store (and got to eat the icing remaining on the bakery box paper liners). He did not speak English when he started school at age 4, only Yiddish.
Always a good student, he studied chemistry at Northeastern University before being drafted in World War II. He served as a corporal in the Army’s 96th Chemical Mortar Battalion in Europe. His Yiddish came in handy when he was ordered to interpret for the surrender of a German general. After the war, he met his wife Beatrice on a blind date in 1951. He worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative for over 30 years, and retired at exactly 65 years old.
Boris was the best Papa to Harrison and David. As kids, they loved to wake him up by jumping on his belly and asked him to tell them stories that he always started with “It was a dark and stormy night…” Boris was an avid reader, a natural athlete, and quite the singer. In his later years, you knew he was in a very good mood if he started singing in the hallways or in the middle of a conversation.
His family asks that you remember him when you find yourself singing, enjoying corn on the cob, or devouring a chocolate éclair.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Lindwood Memorial Park, 497 North Street, Randolph, MA.
