Ciel Saperstein

Ciel (Kaplan) Saperstein of Upton, MA, formerly of Dennis, MA and Boynton Beach, FL, passed away on July 13, 2025 at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester, MA. She was born in Boston on September 23, 1931 to Isadore and Bessie (Appel) Kaplan.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Jayne Mehne (Christopher) of Upton and Ellen Maltzman (Richard) of Andover; adoring grandchildren Jeffrey Mehne (Kimberly), Sarah Shah (Neil), Julie Sabourin (Matthew) and Daniel Maltzman (Dahlia Abramowicz); loving great grandchildren Cole, Ryan, Jack and Tyler Mehne, Dilan Shah; Cooper Sabourin and Marah Maltzman; brother David Kaplan (Pearl); brother-in-law Paul Saperstein (Arlene), and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased in 2019 by her beloved husband of 67 years, Stanley L. Saperstein, and by her sisters Blanche Piem and Esther Johnson.

Ciel loved her family and friends, her winters in Florida and summers on Cape Cod. She was accomplished at knitting and needlework, leaving her children and their families and friends with countless gifts of her handiwork over the years. She loved cooking, especially the traditional Jewish family recipes that she handed down to anyone who asked. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother and great-grandmother and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Ciel's family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Jewish Healthcare Center and JHC Hospice for their professional care and kindness during her time there.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 16 at 11 AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.

The family will welcome visitors on Thursday, July 17 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the home of Jayne and Chris Mehne, and on Sunday, July 20 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm at the home of Ellen and Rich Maltzman.
