

Edith “Edie” (Rosenthal) Rothman, age 102, of Milton, MA, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2021 after an extended illness. Born in Cambridge, MA, she was known as the “Queen of Dixieland Jazz” and was forever a lover of all music.
She counted as her many friends such musical artists as Wilbur and Sidney DeParis, Benny Waters and Duke Ellington and writers such as Nat Hentoff. She, along with her husband, was a founder of S. Rothman & Co., P.C., a public accounting firm located for many years in Dorchester, MA. She was an independent vibrant, caring woman up until she passed away.
The beloved wife of the late Samuel Rothman, loving sister of the late Ruth Bloom, Julian Rosenthal, Seymour Rosenthal, and mother-in-law to Beverly Rothman, all of whom predeceased her.
Edith is survived by her two sons, Robert and his wife Karen of Boynton Beach, FL, Alan and his wife Myrna of Boston, MA; grandchildren Dayna Rothman Perez and her husband Daniel of W. Covina, CA, Cheryl Lockard of Duvall, WA, Jeffrey Rothman of Taunton, MA, Michael Rothman and his wife Lisa of Connecticut, and Todd Rothman and his wife Rebecca and Jodi Rothman of New York. Edith also leaves behind great-grandchildren Hailey Brooke Shannon, Samuel Cooper Rothman, Emma Rothman, Isaac Rothman, Henry Rothman, Caroline Rothman, Owen Stein and Sloane Stein as well as many cousins and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 27th at 1:00 PM at Beth El Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA.
Donations in Edith’s memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Conquer Cancer Coalition and any Kidney Cancer or Breast Cancer Research charity.
