Estelle Lois (Rich) Levy of Canton passed away peacefully, surrounded by her three children on March 22, 2024, at 93 years of age. Estelle was born on May 24, 1930 in Boston to the late Fannie (Siegal) and Abraham Rich. She was a proud graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School and Boston University. Estelle was predeceased by her devoted husband of 61 years, Howard Levy. She was the beloved mother of Joseph Levy and his wife Cindy, Stewart Levy, and Carol Fishman and her husband David. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Allison (Simon), Jennifer (Sam), Harrison, Jordan, Brian (Jillian), Alex (Leah), Michael (Julia), Jacob, and her three great-grandchildren Isabela, Dawn, and Asher. Estelle also leaves behind her dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially her cousin Norma and life-long friend Barbara Linsky, who were both like sisters to her. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Adele Zimmerman.
Estelle was member #70 of Temple Beth Abraham, joining in 1960 when she and Howard moved to Canton to raise their family. She was an involved and proud member of the Jewish community. Over the years, she held multiple leadership roles in many Jewish organizations, including Temple Beth Abraham Sisterhood, the Brandeis Women’s Club, ORT, and Hadassah. She enjoyed attending Saturday morning services regularly at Temple Beth Abraham. Estelle was also always involved in planning her high school and college reunions and had many life-long friends. She remembered everyone, where they were from, who they were related to, and loved making connections between people. Moving to Brightview Senior Living in 2016 gave her the opportunity to make many new friends and reconnect with old friends and acquaintances. She enjoyed socializing with her card group, knitting group, Mahjong players, and dinner companions.
Her biggest accomplishment in life was being a mother, grandmother, and wife. She adored her three children and their spouses, and she doted on her eight grandchildren. Her three great-grandchildren brought her endless joy over the last few years; nothing made her happier than seeing them and getting daily videos and photos of them on her phone. Even in her final days, their photos and videos would always bring a smile to her face. Nothing was more important to her than her family. Estelle will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25th at 11:30 AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton.
