Joan Schaffer Carlin

Loving wife of the late Alan Carlin. Beloved mother of Patti (Carlin) Kozol and her husband Dr. Neil Kozol and Richard Carlin. Devoted grandmother of Dr. Stephanie (Kozol) Berlinski and her husband Chris Berlinski, and Jonathan Kozol. Joan was the daughter of the late Florence and Louis Schaffer and sister of the late Allan Schaffer.

She grew up in Newton, graduated from Newton High School and then attended Boston University, where she met her husband Alan of 64 years. They married and finally settled in Sharon, MA where they raised their children.

Joan loved to garden, create flower arrangements, complete challenging jigsaw puzzles, and was active in B'Nei Brith and a candlepin bowling league. She also loved to travel with Alan to many places, including the Caribbean and especially Aruba. J

Joan spent many years helping Alan, as his administrative assistant, in the office furniture and design business. She was a great asset to their success.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
