Laura E. Machlin

Survived by her son, Barry Machlin and his wife Beth (Jacobson) Machlin, her grandchildren Jordan, Noah and Isabel Machlin (for whom she was the dearest Bobbe), her siblings Ruth Waitz, Morris Waitz and Fran (Waitz) Kalman, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the devoted wife of the late Paul Machlin for 47 years. Born in Billerica, MA, she was loving daughter of Harry and Gertrude (Kittner) Waitz and loving sister of Esther (Waitz) Schwartz, Dorothy (Waitz) Shapiro, Irving Waitz, Paul Waitz and Judith Waitz, all of whom predeceased her.

A graduate of Howe High School in Billerica, she obtained a B.S. in Education from Lesley College and a Master’s of Education from Boston State College. Her life’s work was dedicated to classroom teaching, for 6 years in Waltham, and then for 32 years in the Boston Public Schools, focusing on children with special needs. She touched her family and many friends with her tireless devotion to helping others.

Funeral Services will be Private.
