Son of the late Sherman B. Ryman and Anne Freedman Ryman. Brother of Edward Ryman and sister-in-law Susan Ryman. Uncle of David Ryman and Matthew Ryman and Grand Uncle to Willow Ryman. Mike was born and grew up in Boston (Mattapan), MA. He was a member of the Boston Technical High School Class of 1965. He resided most recently in Avon, MA.
Mike joined his father at the company started by his grandfather Alex Freedman, Beacon Cornice and Roofing Co., of which he eventually took over management and ownership. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and eventually had to sell the business due to the progression of his MS. In his next career, he was a long-time civilian employee of the Massachusetts National Guard up until his retirement.
Mike was also a 20-year veteran of the Massachusetts National Guard in the Yankee Division, initially as Medical Corpsman, he retired as an E6, SSG. He was proud of his service in the National Guard and frequently wore National Guard logo tee shirts and other clothing.
Mike was a kind and gentle soul and always made a friend wherever he was. At family gatherings he always brought a variety of Brigham’s Ice Cream; we always had to make sure that we had enough freezer space! He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Funeral Service on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA 02532.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s name may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at www.nationalmssociety.org.
