The devoted mother of Renée Tepper, Marlene and her husband Martin Adelle and the late Joel Grobtuch, she was the loving sister of the late Albert Rothstein and Edith Grossman and the cherished grandmother of Nathan and Jacob Tepper. She was born on the Lower East Side in New York City, the daughter of Russian immigrants, and lived most of her life in Brooklyn.
All who knew her said she was the sweetest woman they had ever met. With a 'Gracie Allen'-like wit and innocence, but classier and more reserved, she put a smile on everyone's face. A true 'Woman of Valor,' her tongue was guided by kindness and she never uttered an unkind word. She loved to walk for miles and miles, with Brooklyn Botanic Garden being one of her favorite places.
She was a secretary for many years and retired from Brooklyn College/CUNY. She enjoyed current events and politics and always enjoyed listening to intelligent conversation.
Graveside services will be held at the New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY on Tuesday, March 3 at 1 PM.
Memorial observance will be at the home of Renée Tepper on Wednesday and Thursday from 5-8 PM.
Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be donated to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden at www.bbg.org/support .
