

Norman L. Zucker of Canton, MA, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 91 years of age. Son of the late Beatrice Livingston and George M. Zucker. Loving husband of Naomi Flink Zucker of over 63 years. Father of Sara Zucker and Sam Zucker, father-in-law of Jay Plumb and Jennifer Foster, and grandfather of Raphaella Plumb, Isaac Zucker, and Zalman Zucker.
Norman was born in New York on August 1, 1933. He received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral Degrees from Rutgers University. He taught Political Science at Rutgers, Northeastern, Tufts, and for over 40 years at the University of Rhode Island. His areas of focus included American government, American refugee policy, and religion and politics in Israel. He wrote multiple books, some co-authored with his wife Naomi Flink Zucker, and mentored many students. Always quick with a witticism or to offer a roll of duct tape, Norman was the quintessential mensch.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10am at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA. Burial will follow at Temple B’nai Brith cemetery in Peabody, MA.
Shiva will be held at Orchard Cove, Canton, MA, from 2-4pm on Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th; and in Somerville on Sunday, February 9th at 3pm and Monday, February 10th at 6pm.
