Phyllis Burnim’s life was filled with beauty in all the ways that one could wish for. Her passing was no different, on the morning of Friday, March 15, 2024, she passed peacefully in her sleep, with her husband by her side, in the comfort of her home. She was 82 years young.
Phyllis’ life began on May 9, 1941 in Massachusetts. It was bursting with loving family, cherished friends, and elegance in every moment. She was the daughter of the late Morris and Shirley Leopold, the sister of the late Charlene Notkin, and the sister-in-law of the late Stanley Notkin. More family members include the late Kalman Burnim, the late Verna Burnim, Charles Burnim, the late Diann Burnim, the late Marvin Lowy, and Barbara Lowy.
Phyllis was lucky; she met the love of her life, Edward Burnim, at the age of 14 and spent 62+ wonderful years married to him. Together, Eddie and Phyllis raised a family of three children, Evan, Deborah, and Jonathan, who will forever cherish her memory.
Anyone who knew Phyllis knew her for her impeccable decorating eye as well as being the most devoted homemaker. Her love and care shined through in her homemade brownies, the tea and cookies she offered to whomever was in her home, and the time she spent loving her family. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, and every moment she spent with her true love and best friend, Eddie.
Phyllis was a kind, generous soul. She always put others before herself, and her family and friends will remember her for her dazzling smile, the warmest hugs, her gentle nature, and her unwavering, steadfast love.
Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband, Eddie; her 3 children: Evan, Deborah, and Jonathan; her daughter-in-law, Stina; her 6 wonderful grandchildren, Stephanie, Daniel, his spouse Kendall, Amanda, Annabelle, and Owen, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Phyllis’ life was beautiful, and as such, we wish to honor her with a loving funeral service held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA.
Shiva will be held on Sunday following services, as well as on Monday, March 18th from 4:00-8:00 PM at Phyllis and Eddie’s home.
