He was the son of the late Shirley (Sharadsky) Block and David Block, and brother of the late Gloria Kolikof.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Elaine of 64 years, along with beloved daughters Julie Block of Uxbridge, Valerie Hanson of Milton, and granddaughter Daisy Hanson of Revere.
Ray served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. In 1955-1956, he worked for Empire Carpet Company and then in sales for the Broyhill Furniture Company. Later, in 1959, the Stop & Shop Supermarket chain established Top Value Trading Stamps, where Ray became actively involved in sales. In the early 1960's, he worked in sales for the IGA stores and established their new trading-stamp program called Wampum.
By the mid-1960's, Ray had found his lasting professional niche within the rubbish-disposal industry, where for many years he was the General Sales Manager for Charles Lee Rubbish Company of Boston. Upon the sale of the company in 1989 to BFI (Browning Ferris Industries), Ray became their top executive in sales until his retirement in 1995 at the age of 65.
More recently, for his past 20 years, Ray enjoyed being an active member within the local Sharon Men's Club of Sharon, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 10:45 AM at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. Memorial observance will be private.
