Ronald Fredric Kaplan

Devoted father of Andrew Kaplan, James Kaplan, and Abigail Kaplan Ramage. Loving brother of Carole Ulin and brother-in-law of Walter Ulin. Former husband of Fern Miller. Cherished grandfather of Hazel Ramage, Scarlett Ramage, Moses Kaplan, Solomon Kaplan, Violet Ramage, Willow Ramage, and Shira Kaplan. Dear uncle to Jeff Ulin and Wendy Linden.

A graduate of Brookline High School (1950), Harvard College (1954), and the University of Rochester Medical School (1958). Ronnie Kaplan served in the US Navy as ship's doctor for the U.S.S. Newport News between 1960 and 1962. A passionate Zionist, he volunteered and served in Israel during the Yom Kippur War in 1973 as a triage field doctor, seeing action in the Sinai Desert.

An orthopedic surgeon who proudly cared for thousands of patients during his career, Ronnie had many passions, including Jewish history, antiques collecting, choral singing, piloting small planes, Yiddish, skiing, opera, and Chinese food.

An exuberant lover of life, Ronnie will be remembered for his humor, energy, warmth, charisma, and love of family.

Services and interment will be held Friday, November 21 at 12:45 pm, graveside at Sharon Memorial Park 42 Dedham Street, Sharon.

Memorial observance will be held afterward at NewBridge on the Charles, Interfaith Chapel, 5000 Great Meadow Road in Dedham.
