Stephen “Steve” Baron lived a life defined by curiosity, kindness, and quiet strength. The beloved son of the late Beatrice and Benjamin Baron. Steve was a devoted brother to Eileen Kravetz and brother-in-law to Joel Kravetz. He was the cherished husband of the late Nancy Klapp-Baron and the late Melanie Burk Adler Baron, and loving uncle to Mara Safer, Elyse Callahan, and Lauren Kravetz. His great-nephews Noah, Ethan, Landon, Ben and Jack brought him great joy. He shared many years of laughter and friendship with his circle of special friends - Bernard Fellner, Dee Bohne, Bob and Joyce Feldman, Dick and Pam Mayer, and Joan Cooper and Owen Lang. He is eternally grateful for the care and companionship he received from his dedicated aide, Theresa Parker.
After growing up in Boston and graduating from Boston Latin School in 1965, Steve built a remarkable career in information technology. He began his professional journey at Camp Dresser & McKee in Boston before moving to San Francisco, where he spent 46 years. There, he contributed his expertise at Bechtel, Crocker National Bank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and UCSF, ultimately serving as Managing IT Director at Charles Schwab. Steve’s work ethic, intelligence, and calm leadership earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond his career, Steve was a man of many passions. He was an avid traveler who was especially enamored of his time in New Zealand. He also indulged in wanderlust by exploring new restaurants, wine, books, and movies. Though quiet by nature, Steve had a generous heart and unshakable honesty that made him a treasured presence in the lives of those who knew him.
In 2021, Steve returned home to Boston to be near family after the passing of his second wife. Though health challenges changed his life in later years, he met them with dignity and resilience, continuing to bring warmth, with, and thoughtfulness to those around him.
Steve’s memory will live on in his family and friends, who will miss him deeply but celebrate the gentleness and integrity he brought to the world.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 1 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon. All who loved Steve are welcome to attend.
